Peta Messner, originally from Australia and now residing in Fort Collins by way of Washington DC, embarked on her fitness journey with a clear goal—improving her health and losing weight. Over the past 12 months, she has successfully shed over 50 pounds, marking a major milestone in her journey. The impact on her overall health has been incredible, with a recent annual checkup showing perfect results and a return to textbook blood pressure levels, allowing her to discontinue medication after six years.

Finding the Motivation to Begin Again

Like many, Peta had an inconsistent workout routine before the COVID-19 pandemic. Once the pandemic hit, she completely stopped exercising. Work responsibilities increased with a high-pressure job, leading to long hours, stress eating, and inactivity. Eventually, the toll on her health became evident—basic tasks like putting on a shirt or tying her shoes became painful. She knew it was time to make a change.

What keeps her going? The incredible trainers at Valor Elite Training. “Tim and Kristen keep me motivated. Every workout with them is different, and it’s always fun. The results have kept me motivated for sure. Mostly, it’s how much better I feel, inside and out, that keeps me going. I’m really enjoying it.”

Her advice to others looking to achieve their fitness goals? “Even if you’ve worked out before and know your stuff, it’s worth having some sessions with a trainer to get you back on track. They can customize workouts for you, help with nutrition, and get you focused. Keep showing up. Results will happen. Progress isn’t linear. When I don’t feel like working out, I make a deal with myself to show up and just do 10 minutes of walking on the treadmill. If I don’t want to continue after 10 minutes, I give myself permission to leave. But I never have. Once I get there, I feel energized and want to keep going.”
